With all of the natural beauty of the outdoor scenery that grabs our attention during the fall, it’s easy to forget that this is the ideal time of the year for family portrait pictures.

Golden fall light is flattering, especially at dawn or dusk, when colors are muted and shadows are long.

Since it is just around the corner why not take advantage of the beautiful scenery. This session is also a great opportunity for holiday gifts for the people you never know what to buy.
The Fall colors are one of the most gorgeous perfect backdrop for a family portraits. You can choose a custom location, public parks in the area or your home. No matter where you choose to hold your session, the vibrant changing leaves are sure to light up your walls and holiday gift cards alike.

You can opt for casual classic such as jeans and black or jeans and off white, a golden theme such as brown and/or yellow gold or burgundy colors.

Because it is a fall session, you want to avoid pastel colors, even in accessories. You want to keep a fair balance of neutrals in the wardrobe, so that there is no popping of colors where it will take over the portrait.

Not all portraits need to be planned and posed, of course. Some can even be shot from above, lying on a bed of golden leaves or playing in the leaves will be amusing for the kids.
